Mishel Jeffcoat- Brick Street
Thrift + Boutique

The inspiration and opportunity for Brick Street came from a divine calling. Mishel always wanted to start a business in her hometown, Slaton, and followed God's guidance to meet a local need. Every instance of helping and praying for customers, offering sales, and providing affordable clothing has been a cherished memory of Mishel. She loves being a part of the Slaton community and providing a much-needed clothing store, as the only other option is the Family Dollar. Her favorite memories so far of her business, while it has not been open long, is being abler to serve her small town which brings her immense joy. Learning all aspects of running a business has been challenging, but the SBDC has been a significant help in this area. Brick Street Thrift + Boutique positively impacts the community by offering clean, affordable clothing, especially benefiting families in the primarily poverty-level school district without the need to travel to Lubbock.
Brick Street Thrift + Boutique is unique due to its strong foundation in faith, as the owner prays over donations, customers, and the business, always seeking ways to give back to Slaton. Growing up in a family of business owners in Slaton, Mishel always aspired to own a business but waited for the right opportunity and divine vision. Her advice to her younger self would be to "be a difference maker." The SBDC, especially Chuck, was instrumental in the business's success by providing clear steps and ongoing support throughout the process. She credits the vision and opportunity for Brick Street to The Lord and is excited to see the need in Slaton being met, giving all the credit to Him.
